Basic Research

We use anatomic, physiologic, genetic, and organism-level techniques to study the function of the peripheral vestibular system.

Current studies include:

  • The genetic basis for development of the skull base and labyrinth

  • Responses of genetically and pharmacologically modified mice to vestibular stimulation

  • Comparative anatomy and evolution of the mammalian peripheral vestibular system

  • Posture and movement in vestibular-deficient animals
